Default Fitting 20's to a VT

ok i drive a 97 VT exec sedan. i used to have 4 stockies and the lowest springs you can buy. iv recently upgraded to a set of Zinik Z-24 Risso 20" rims and i cant get them to fit. when i first tried the guard lips sat right on the tyre, now iv rolled the crap out of them and they clear untill i hit a bump or boot it. its the section where the rear bar meets the quarter, just that corner hits but i dont want to have to cut it out.

any ideas anyone??

i also switched to a skinnyer tyre so i have 225 instead of 235.
